Solar electricity is the fastest-growing source of power generation both nationally and internationally. According to the International Energy Agency (IEA), solar power accounted for the largest share of global renewable energy capacity additions in recent years. In the United States, the manufacturing capacity for solar panels has increased fivefold since 2020, driven by federal incentives, advancements in technology, and significant investments from both public and private sectors. However, grid-connected solar power faces several regulatory and technical challenges, particularly around addressing the intermittency of supply. These challenges are well-known, including the issue commonly referred to as the "duck curve," where solar energy production peaks during the day while demand typically peaks in the evening, creating an imbalance in supply and demand. To mitigate this, grid operators are exploring solutions such as energy storage, demand response, and improved grid management techniques. (Source: National Renewable Energy Laboratory, 2022)
Olive Power is actively addressing these challenges by implementing PV+Storage technologies to provide reliable and clean energy at competitive rates. By combining photovoltaic (PV) systems with energy storage, Olive Power aims to offer dependable power for retail power resellers, helping to smooth out fluctuations in solar generation and enhance grid stability. This integrated approach aligns with industry trends to support a more resilient and sustainable energy future. (Source: Olive Power’s 2024 Annual Report)
